October Fire & Safety Month, Fire Safety London ON, Fire Safety Week London ON,

Alarmtech is celebrating October Fire & Safety Month/Week. Here at Alarmtech, we want everyone to stay safe! We have a number of things on the go this month to assist with our safety goal, such as tips, resources and contests that also include Small Business Saturday (Oct. 22) and School Safety Week (Oct. 17-23).

Fire safety & prevention is important because fires affect thousands of homes and businesses each year resulting in injury, loss of life and building damage. By establishing a fire plan & knowing about safety prevention you can help avoid any unwanted fires, carbon monoxide poisoning and any unnecessary damage to yourself, loved ones, pets or your property.

We had the opportunity to speak to Chief Fire Prevention Officer, Wendy Cowdrey and she gave us a few wise words to share for Fire Prevention Week: “There is no better time than during Fire Prevention Week to ensure your family can safely escape in the event of an emergency.  Check your smoke alarms and take the time to practice a fire drill in your home or business.  An escape plan can help you and your family survive a fire.”

We shared some FUN FIRE SAFETY RESOURCES FOR CHILDREN in august and this month we have some more:

When making a decision to protect your family and personal property from theft, also consider the addition of fire detection devices. When added to a monitored security system, our smoke detectors are fully supervised, capable of notifying you when the batteries are low reminding you to replace them and will inform you if they need cleaning or are otherwise out of spec. If hardwired they have battery backup if the electricity is out. Most importantly, we are able to dispatch the fire department promptly, while you concentrate on evacuating people & pets.

Ask one of our consultants about how monitored fire detection devices make your system twice as valuable — both for life safety and in regards to insurance discounts. See “Quick Response” story in our Customer Stories section to read how one of our residential smoke alarms summoned the fire department in time to save pets’ lives and limit damage to the home.
